CCY - North East Region

If you are aged between 12 and 17 and would like to make new friends and have the opportunity to travel both in the UK and Europe, then why not join the CCY?
The CCY or Camping Club Youth, is a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, aimed at young people aged 12 to 17. Its purpose is to promote enjoyment of all forms of camping and to develop skills that will enhance camping experiences. Training leads to a camping test, Passing the test enables Youth Members to camp unsupervised on club sites and continue in the youth section until the age of 21.
Training for the youth test includes learning the skills of camping: how to pack and carry kit correctly, how to choose a suitable pitch and ensuring the tent has been correctly erected, cooking on a single burner stove, basic first aid and map reading.
CCY also take part in various camping events organised especially for them, both locally and nationally.

Young Achiever of the Year 2004
Two North East Youth went through to the finals at the NFOL at Bearkley Castle: Matthew Gibson who was representing the North East Region and David Farris for the BCC (British Caravanners Club)
David Bellamy was a judge and he also presented the prizes
It was great to see two of the North East Region's Youth presenting themselves and the Region well on stage.
Matthew came third and won a Four man coleman tent and a sleeping bag.
